Three patients at burn center upgraded

Three of the 11 burn patients from the Feb. 7 Imperial Sugar refinery explosion have had their conditions upgraded from critical to serious at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta.

Eight patients remain in critical condition. The names of those who conditions were upgraded has not been released.

A fundraiser for the three Effingham County workers who were hurt in the blast and for the one Rincon man who died from injuries sustained in the explosion will be held Saturday at Kelly's Tavern in Springfield beginning at 11 a.m.
