A Rincon woman died from injuries sustained in a single-car accident Thursday on Highway 80 in Bryan County, according to authorities.

Erica Ulmer, 20, was traveling west on Highway 80 near Blichton when she reportedly lost control of her car while making a turn at mile marker 2. Ulmer’s car crossed the center line and into the eastbound lane before striking a pole.

Bryan County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Mike Maxwell said there were no other vechiles involved and no passengers.

“If there would’ve been a passenger in the vehicle, they would’ve been killed,” Maxwell said. “The pole snapped in half and went through the passenger seat.”
