ATLANTA – Underwood Ammo will invest $41 million to build a new manufacturing facility in Effingham County, creating 120 new jobs for the local community.
“Underwood Ammo’s investment means more quality jobs for Effingham County,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “Georgia continues to attract manufacturers that grow our economy and strengthen communities.”
The new facility, located at Savannah Portside International Park, will produce handgun and rifle ammunition for hunting and self-defense. Construction is expected to begin in 2026, with hiring for operations, maintenance, and assembly roles starting in 2027.
“Investing in Effingham County positions Underwood Ammo for long-term growth while providing opportunities for local workers,” said Kevin Underwood, CEO of Underwood Ammo. “We are grateful to the state and local leaders for their support.”
Local leaders welcomed the project. “This investment will create quality jobs and strengthen our industrial community,” said District One Commissioner Forrest Floyd. Effingham County Industrial Development Authority Chairman Matt Saxon added, “Underwood Ammo’s decision brings new opportunities and diversity to our workforce.”
The project was supported by the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Georgia Quick Start, and Electric Cities of Georgia.
