GUYTON, Ga. — The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office has released the age and mug shot of Jennifer Underwood, the woman arrested in connection with her husband’s death. Investigators spent Tuesday conducting interviews as part of the ongoing investigation. More information most likely will not be released until tomorrow, Brian Bailey, public information officer for the sheriff’s department, said. Authorities say additional charges are expected for Underwood.
Underwood, 50, of Guyton, was arrested and charged with the murder of her husband following a joint investigation with the Guyton Police Department. Around 3:38 p.m. Aug. 19, Guyton police responded to a call at 507 Pine St., where officers found a deceased white male.
“This is a tragic situation, and our thoughts are with the loved ones affected,” Police Chief Kelphie Lundy said.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Guyton Police Department or the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office.
