Waste Pro to take over trash collection service
Guyton City Council

GUYTON — Guyton residents stand to save some money soon thanks to a recent Guyton City Council decision to seek bids for trash collection service.

During a Dec. 8 city council meeting, the council unanimously accepted Waste Pro’s bid. Under it, residents with regular pickup service will pay $14.74 per month. The pickup day will be Monday.

Guyton’s current trash service is provided by Waste Management, which bid $15 for regular service. Atlantic bid $15.25.

“We had no issue with the service Waste Mangement provided,” Mayor Russ Deen said. “We just wanted to see if we could get a better price. It’s been a while since we bid that out.”

Barring an unforseen tax or governmental compliance fee, Waste Pro agreed to not raise its price for three years.

The contract takes effect in January.
