RINCON — The path to better transportation is being paved in Rincon.
During its regularly scheduled meeting Monday, the Rincon City Council approved another TSPLOST project. It received the go-ahead just days before a road demolition and asphalt paving operation is set to start on Georgia and Savannah Avenue from W. 9th Street to W. 5th Street.
The bid accepted Monday was for the repaving of 4th Street and Weisenbaker Road. The low entry of $1,298,722.35 was submitted by Sikes Brothers Construction of Metter.
Three other bids were considered.
The work on the Georgia Avenue/Savannah Avenue project and the Weisenbaker Road/4th Street project is expected to be completed within 90 days.
The council also OK’d a bid for a LMIG (Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant) project on Lockner Drive. The winning bid of $147,530.40, for draining improvements and repaving, was submitted by Sikes Brothers of Metter.
The Lockner Drive project is expected to be completed in 30 days after the contract is finalized.
