Effingham County local hero, Winston Hencely, remains in critical condition with injuries he sustained from an explosion during an attack on Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan in November. Hencely, a 2014 graduate of Effingham County High School, has been recovering from his injuries over the last five weeks in an undisclosed hospital overseas. Tuesday morning, Hencely’s mother, Vicki Hencely, wrote on Facebook that Winston had a second procedure done on his right lung after the first surgery was unsuccessful earlier in the week.
