SPRINGFIELD -- Effingham County's basketball teams ended the regular season Friday night with tough losses to Region 2-AAAAAA foe Brunswick. If they lose their next games, their season will be over for good.

The Lady Rebels and Rebels face Region 2-AAAAAA tournament play-in games Monday at Glynn Academy at 5 and 6:30 p.m., respectively.

Girls coach Katy Fleming likes her team's chances of advancing despite Friday's 55-44 loss to Brunswick, the tourney's top seed and host. The event starts Wednesday.

"If we play like we did tonight --  I mean we were right there," she said. "If a few things go our way and  a few shots fall ..."

Brunswick won the boys game 60-50 by taking advantage of a depth advantage. Rebel starters Trevon Wilkinson, Samari Westbrook, Demario Gant and Tydarius Fish fouled out.
