Work on West 9th Street leads to detour

The planned detour and road work on 9th Street at its intersection with Highway 21 in Rincon is shown above.

Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation have scheduled a temporary road closure on West 9th Street between Highway 21 and N. Carolina Avenue in the Rincon.


The traffic detour began Monday and will continue until Dec. 31, weather permitting.


The closure is a necessity for improvements on the curb and gutter, drainage and the roadway in the scope of the current intersection improvement project in Rincon.


Motorists are urged to drive carefully and stay alert as they travel through this area.


The detour route will be signed as follows:


• Motorists traveling eastbound on West 9th Street will be detoured on N. Carolina Avenue; motorists can turn left or right on to N. Carolina Ave; turn onto 8th or 10th Street; at intersection of Highway 21, turn back toward 9th Street where detour ends.


• Motorists traveling westbound on 9th Street will be detoured on Highway 21; motorists can turn left or right on to 21; turn onto 8th or 10th Street; travel to N. Carolina Avenue turning back to 9th Street where detour ends.
