Dear Editor,

I don’t want to sound critical of anyone, but I believe Effingham needs a shot of new blood in our political leadership. What was good for the past isn’t necessarily good for the present — or the future. I don’t believe in change for the sake of change, but it seems to me that when we have a good, highly qualified person running for office, we need to elect him.

All the candidates for tax commissioner are good people but only one, Frank Arden, is educated in government and experienced in accounting and finance. He’s a former banker and knows what friendly service means to the public. He’s a nice guy, too.

I hear so many folks complain that Effingham needs to do this or that better. If they really believe what they say, they should vote for Mr. Arden. He’s best qualified for tax commissioner. He will set a good example and stand up for the taxpayers.
