Christmas Parade was a big success

Dear Editor,

This past Saturday morning I witnessed another huge example of our community coming together for a common cause.

The 2010 Lions Club Parade is history. It was, without a doubt, the largest parade in recent history. I have never seen the streets lined with so many wonderful people. Thanks to all of you who came out to see the parade. I will attempt to recognize all who helped to make this year’s parade possible...

Thank you Rob and Debbie Porterfield for allowing us to honor you as grand marshals. Rob, you are truly a beloved man and I am confident that you alone were the reason for the record crowd in attendance. Thanks to the media for helping to advertise the event and also for the great coverage you provided. Thank you parade participants for the time, money and energy you invested in your parade entry. A special thanks goes to Rincon First Baptist for hosting another successful craft show. Thank you Lions Club members and Mose Mock for showing up early at Macomber Park and making the parade sign-in and lineup uneventful. And last but certainly not least, thank you parade sponsors for your donations that help, not only to make the parade possible, but also help us to provide eye exams and glasses for needy kids throughout the year.

Merry Christmas and God bless you all,

Billy Dasher, President
