Grateful for serving and for prayers for son

Dear Editor,

Words could never express how blessed I have been to have had the privilege to serve as your school board representative for the fourth district. Our children are our most precious gifts, and your trust in me has humbled me greatly and honored me beyond words.

My family found out that my son has lymphoma cancer and he is facing several months of treatment. We are assured that by God’s grace, the many prayers being offered, and the wonderful medical professionals who are helping our son, that he should be healed. My priorities in life are to serve God and to care for my family. I have resigned from the Effingham County School Board so that I may focus my full attention on the healing and recovery of my son. There are very capable individuals ready and willing to step in and continue the wonderful job of leading our school system.

I would like to thank each and every one of the people of Effingham County and especially the outstanding school staff support team, board of education, and school superintendent, Dr. Randy Shearouse. We are blessed in our county to have these fine individuals to lead our school system into the future. I hope that in some way I have been a blessing to someone during my school board term. Thank you for your prayers for my son and family.
