Dear Editor,

I would like to say thank you to the Rincon Fire Department, the sheriff’s officers, the ambulance, the young man who stopped when passing by (didn’t get his name), and the Georgia Power crew who all did a fantastic job on Monday of last week at my home.

A tree had just fallen on the power lines behind my home, which then apparently started a fire in my utility room, possibly from a power surge. Your fast action prevented a potentially bad situation.

A special thank you goes to Sam Johnson with Georgia Power who climbed the pole next to my house to re-attach the power lines, rather than messing up my little garden with a heavy boom truck. Incidentally, they had power restored within a couple of hours.
