GUYTON — After starting 8-0, it’s clear that South Effingham's softball team is going to be hard to beat. Packed with powerful hitters and stellar pitching, the Mustangs look unstoppable. The Mustangs are led by Kastin Belogorska, a senior who is showing she is dangerous at the plate and in the field. She has fanned 51 batters, giving up just one earned run. South Effingham coach Chuck Smith said he saw Belogorska's dominance coming. “She’s a hard worker, I’m telling you,” Smith said. “She finds ways to get out of jams. Her attitude in the circle is relentless. She doesn’t let anything fluster her. She stays focused and the team has her back.” Belogorska has learned to adapt to any situation. “I have played at a high level in school ball and travel ball over the years, and have been put in many pressure situations,” Belogorska said. “After a while, I just learned how to mentally work through them and maintain my composure. Now, in any situation good or bad, I just focus on one pitch at a time. I have full confidence in my teammates and full faith that we will get out of the inning without the other team scoring. "Having such talented teammates around me is really (and) truly what helps me maintain my composure.” See the Aug. 22 edition of the Effingham Herald for more details.
