GUYTON -- The South Effingham Lady Mustangs won't be going to Columbus this weekend because the wheels came completely off their game Wednesday.

The Lady Mustangs (28-4-1) struggled in every aspect in a 10-1 loss in the finale of their best-of-three Class AAAAAA set against Buford (32-6) at The Corral.

The Lady Wolves showed no ill effects from dropping Game 2 5-3 in 10 innings Tuesday night. Taylor Malvin ripped the first pitch of Game 3 for a double and Buford was on its way to an easy win. They collected 13 hits in just five innings after being limited to 17 base knocks in 17 innings in the first two games.

South Effingham, which lost Game 1 4-2 Tuesday, was also plagued by miscues. Mental errors on the base paths and in the field cost them.

Buford will Pope, Creekview and Lassiter in the final four in Columbus.
