Season on verge of tipping off

The high school basketball season is right around the corner. 

South Effingham’s boys and girls open their seasons at home Nov. 17 against Southeast Bulloch.

SEHS held Mustang Madness -- intrasquad games for the public -- Thursday as a dress rehearsal for the teams. 

Effingham County is holding a similar Rebel Madness on Friday night.

ECHS’ boys tip off their season in a tournament at Norcross Nov. 22-24. The Rebel girls’ first action will be against Groves on Nov. 30.

Clara Vorel, a 6-foot-3 middle blocker for South Effingham High School, has established herself as one of the area’s top volleyball players. With nearly 700 kills and more than 230 blocks in her career, she enters her senior year committed to Towson University and determined to lead the Mustangs back to the state tournament.
