Simmons joins Effingham County Athletic Hall of Fame

Simmons was inducted into the Effingham County Athletic Hall of Fame. He worked at the school from 1994-2005, serving stints as a head baseball coach and head softball coach. In baseball, he amassed 193 victories, two region titles and ive state tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 berth in 2005. Seventeen of his baseball players advanced to college or pro baseball. In softball, Simmons posted a 58-22 mark with state tourney berths in 2003 and 2004. Simmons is currenty the head baseball coach at Statesboro.
