GUYTON -- South Effingham's boys basketball season came to a disappointing conclusion Tuesday night.

The Mustangs (5-16, 0-12)) entered the final period of their regular-season finale against Bradwell Institute down by 12 points before rallying to briefly take the lead a couple times, Foul trouble and a rash of turnovers cost them at the end, however, and they lost 64-61.

South Effingham needed to win the contest by five points to qualifying for the Region 2-AAAAAA tournament. Bradwell Institute beat the Mustangs by four points in Hinesville to earn the edge in a potential tie for the tournament's sixth and final seed.

The Lady Mustangs (7-15, 3-8) earned a tournament berth by topping the Lady Tigers (8-9, 5-7) 43-37. Seeded sixth, they will visit Richmond Hill on Thursday.
