The three South Effingham Angels softball players competing in the USA/ASA 16-under National Tournament in Sioux Falls, S.D. are making an impact on their respective teams.

Sally Faircloth has recorded two saves for the Georgia Impact. She pitched the final two innings in the tournament opener, a 4-0 win over the Ohio Ice and she pitched the final inning in a 7-2 win the next day.

She has not allowed any hits or runs, while striking out four batters.

Katie Rietkovich, playing for the Georgia Knockouts, had to face Angels teammate Shelby Duff on the first day.

Duff came in to pitch for the Georgia Mustangs in the sixth inning and surrendered a hit to Rietkovich. Duff did get her friend out the next time up.

Reitkovich, who started at third base, led her team to a 6-3 win. She went 2-for-3 at the plate, while making six assists and no errors at third.

Rietkovich went 2-for-3 Tuesday and scored a run.

Duff pitched the final two innings Tuesday in the Mustangs’ 1-0 win. She struck out three and did not allow any hits.

The tournament runs through Sunday.
