South Effingham senior Daniel Browning was named to the all-Region 3-AAA boys basketball team in a vote of region coaches.

Teammate Stephen Davis was named to the honorable mention list.

Browning had a season-high 35 points against Bluffton (S.C.), one of two games he topped 30 points. His aunt, Nancy Browning, told him if he could surpass her single-game scoring mark of 41 points she would buy him a car.

Browning also scored 31 points against Effingham County  and had 29 points against Class A state-ranked Calvary and 28 against Savannah Country day.

Jerel Stephenson of Glenn Hills was named region player of the year and Glenn Hills coach Richard Wallace was named coach of the year. The Spartans (25-4) were region champions.

On the first team were Tim Daniels of Thomson, Chris Reynolds of Glenn Hills, DeVonde Lewis of Burke County, Marvin Harris of Washington County and Terrell Johnson of Liberty County.
