Chambliss earns win

Former South Effingham hurler Austin Chambliss earned a win Thursday pitching for the Tri City Dust Devils

Chambliss pitched two shutout innings in the Colorado Rockies’ Class A affiliate’s 7-4 win against Eugene.
Chambliss entered the game in the fifth inning and allowed two hits, while striking out three. He improved his record to 4-3 and has a 5.88 ERA. He has appeared in 20 games, pitching 26 innings.

He has struck out 36 batters and walked nine. Opponents are hitting .293 against him.
Josh Reddick
Josh Reddick continues to have a good season at Class A Greenville, despite some off the field distractions.

The former South Effingham High School star slugged a home run, his 17th of the season, to right center field in the eighth inning of the Drive’s 5-3 win over Augusta.

Off the field, Reddick and his teammates have been moved out of their apartment complexes and into an unidentified hotel, according to an article in the Boston Globe.

The Globe reported that Greenville pitchers Brantley New and Chad Povich were victims of armed robbery. New was mugged on Tuesday and Povich on Aug. 14.

Reddick leads the Drive in hitting, with a .313 average. He is tied for first in slugging, with a .542 percentage. He has knocked in 67 runs.

In his last 10 games, Reddick is hitting .311.

Jason Shiell
The Rincon resident and former Windsor Forest pitcher was sent down to the Kansas City Royals’ Double A affiliate Wichita Wranglers.

In his first game with his new team on Aug. 19, he started, pitching three shutout innings against the Frisco Rough Riders.
