D.E.E.N.O.S. teams mine for gold at state AAU meet

The D.E.E.N.O.S. level 2 team finished eighth in the state AAU gymnastics championships in Dahlonega.

D.E.E.N.O.S. sent nine level 2 athletes and eight level 3 athletes ranging in age from 6 to 11 years old. D.E.E.N.O.S. girls won four gold, four silver and three bronze medals in individual contests. Adasha Plunkett won the gold in vault, bars, beam and all-around and took the silver in floor exercises. She set a D.E.E.N.O.S. record in all around with a score out 38.475 out of a possible 40.

Hannah Traynor won the silver on bars and the bronze in all-around and the vault. Anna Chumley won the silver on floor exercises, Taylor Doten won the silver on the vault and Hannah Worr won the bronze in floor exercises. Alyssa LeTourneau, Lexi Murray, Keri Monteleone and Michaelyn VanBrackle rounded out the team.

The level 3 team competed in the advanced division and finished seventh out of 26, capturing five gold, four silver and one bronze medal. In the novice division, McKaela Kramer won the gold on the bars. In the advanced division, Brianna King won the gold on vault and in all-around and took the silver on the bars and beam. Casey Meyers won gold on vault and all-around and the silver on bars. Madelyn Smith won the silver on the beam, and Caroline Johnson won the bronze on the beam. Brittany King, Leah King and Stefani Thompson rounded out the team.
