Perry Herbert had 20 points and Darryl Wright added 18, but Groves won the battle of the Rebels on Saturday night, defeating visiting Effingham County 85-60.
Asa Nails and Mike Hendricks each had 12 points for Groves (14-6). Thirteen players scored for the Groves Rebels.
Marquel Manior had six points for Effingham while Steven Tarpley and Perry Mydell each had four points. Jonathan Duff had three, Dimitri Hill and Cameron Spake each scored two and Nolan Spake had one point.
In the girls game, Mia Ready had 18 points and Danielle Reed had 10 as the Groves Lady Rebels pulled away from Effingham in the second half.
Sierra Goldwire led Effingham (11-7) with 10 points.
Effingham is home Tuesday in a non-region game against Savannah Country Day and hosts Glynn Academy on Friday. The SCD girls are ranked No. 3 in Class A.
