Effingham County’s softball team finished one of its best regular seasons in history.

Now, the Lady Rebels hope to keep the momentum going.

After finishing 19-3 overall and 7-1 in Region 3-AAAA South for the team’s sixth consecutive subregion championship, the Lady Rebels compete in the eight-team, double-elimination region tournament on Saturday at the North Glynn Complex.

The competition will be fierce with north subregion champion Greenbrier, the state’s No. 2 team, and Evans joining the fray.

The Lady Rebels will need to win two games to qualify for the state tournament.

Effingham’s opponent in the first round has not been determined. What has been determined is the game is at 11 a.m. on field No. 2.

If Effingham wins, it plays at 1 p.on field No. 2. If the Lady Rebels lose, they play at 1 p.m. on field No. 3 in the elimination bracket.

The four state qualifying teams will be decided Saturday, while the region championship and seeding will be determined on Wednesday at North Glynn Complex.
