• Josh Reddick, Boston Red Sox (MLB) — Reddick is hitting Detroit with a .214 average, with six hits in 27 at-bats. He was 1-for-4 against the Tigers’ Justin Verlander on Thursday afternoon, getting a double in the first inning off Detroit’s ace right-hander.

Against Baltimore, the 22-year-old outfielder was 4-for-11 with a homer and two doubles. Reddick went 0-for-6 in an extra-inning loss to the Yankees on Aug. 7.

• Austin Chambliss, Modesto Nuts (A) — The right-hander had a tough week with two rough outings against Visalia. He allowed five earned runs in 2/3 innings in back-to-back games. For the season, he’s 2-1 with a 3.15 ERA in 24 games for the Nuts. In 40 innings, he’s struck out 32 and allowed 27 hits for a .189 opponent batting average.
