The South Effingham Mustangs finally have a Region 3-AAA boys soccer championship.
The Mustangs beat the Cross Creek Razorbacks 3-1 Saturday in Augusta, claiming the region title and the No. 1 seed in the Class AAA state playoffs that goes with it.
As region champs, the Mustangs will take on the fourth seed of Region 2-AAAA, but that might not be as easy as it sounds. That region includes top-ranked McIntosh, No. 3-ranked Starr’s Mill and eighth-ranked Woodward Academy.
Fayette County, 9-5-1, was scheduled to play McIntosh on Monday night.
