Alex Kowalczyk broke up Dylan Scott’s no-hit bid in the fifth inning. Jonathan Kaiser’s hit an inning later was an even bigger blow.

Kaiser’s two-run homer capped Glynn Academy’s rally from two runs down and lifted the Red Terrors to a 3-2 win over the Effingham County Rebels on Tuesday.

Scott had a no-hitter with two outs in the fifth until Kowalczyk singled. In the sixth, a walk and a double preceded a passed ball that allowed the Red Terrors’ first run to score. Kaiser followed with his decisive shot.

Effingham County outhit the Terrors 7-3.

Even with the defeat, the Rebels (10-8, 4-3) secured a spot in the Region 3-AAAA playoffs. Wayne County’s 8-6 win over Brunswick knocked the Pirates out of contention and locked up the top spot in 3-AAAA South for the Yellow Jackets.

The Rebels are in second, one game ahead of Glynn and Ware County. The Rebels finish the region regular season Friday at Ware County.
