The South Effingham Middle School girls track team placed fourth in the region meet at Southeast Bulloch, finishing with 48.75 points.
Cason Smith won the long jump with a best of 15 feet, 2 inches. She placed fourth in the 100-meter dash at 13.66 seconds and fifth in the 200 meters at 28.58. Mallori Jenkins was second in the 800-meter run at 2:48.49 and also had two fifth-place finishes. She turned in a best of 28-9 in the triple jump and a time of 1:08.61 in the 400 meters.
Madyson Seeley was second in the discus at 75-3. The 4x100 relay team of Jenkins, Alexa Johnanson, Madelyn Smith and Cason Smith was third at 54.36 seconds, and the 4x400 team of Jenkins, Cason Smith, Courtney Cubbedge and Allysa Pesce set a new school record at 4:49.64, placing them third. The previous school record was 4:54.
Allie Ergle placed fifth in the high jump at 4-2.
The boys took eighth place with 21 points. Matthew Grant was third in the high jump at 5-7, Darius Scott was fourth in the triple jump at 35-11, Braden McGrath was sixth in the 3,200 meters at 12:44.21 and Grant was sixth in the 1,600 meters at 5:57.30.
