The South Effingham Middle School Lady Mustangs beat William James Middle School of Statesboro 9-2 on Tuesday.

Olivia Lavernez struck out six and allowed one earned run in four innings, and Rami Jo Mesmer struck out five in three innings.

Taylor Ross led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a single and triple, two RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base. Ansley Brown went 2-for-4 with a single and a double, one RBI and one run scored.
