South Effingham rapped out 28 hits and the Mustangs got two solid starts as they ousted Westover from the Class AAA state baseball playoffs with a doubleheader sweep in Friday's first round.

The Mustangs held off a late Westover charge in the first game for an 11-7 win and continued their hot hitting with a 15-6 victory in the nightcap.

With the victories, the Mustangs will advance to meet Henry County on Wednesday in the second round. The series will be played at Henry County, which swept Northside-Columbus.
