Southern Stars shining in a busy summer schedule

The Southern Stars 10 and under baseball team has added the South Georgia State 10U AA championship to its list of titles this summer.

The Southern Stars won the crown in Waycross in a June 15-17 tournament. They also have won the 2nd Annual Battle of the Bats in Statesboro, the Triple Play Classic in Statesboro and the 9th Annual Smoltz-Grissom Wood Bat tournament in Atlanta.

The Stars also went undefeated in the Effingham County Recreation and Parks’ 10 and under open league regular season. Their record is 39-9. This month, the Southern Stars will be traveling to Lexington, S.C., for the World Series.  

Team members are Evan Fears, Jake Elliot, Fisher Read, Derek Hendrix, Kevin (Bam) Smith, Michael Rohland, Corey Horne,  Josh Gilliam, Caleb Overstreet,  Layton Stone,  Slade Johnson, Scheldon Paulk, Jonathan Swinson and Dalton Shelton, and coaches Bobby Fears, Alan Hendrix and Mark Shelton.
