It was an all-Effingham County championship Saturday in Carrollton as the Stars and Stampede played for the 2007 GRPA Mite boys live pitch baseball championship.
The Stars, coached by Bobby Fears, took home the crown, winning 8-1 over the Kevin Brown coached Stampede.
Josh Gilliam earned the win for the Stars. Corey Horne led the way at the plate, going 2-for-2 and Evan Fears and Scheldon Paulk each had two RBIs.
“It was a complete team effort. Every player did their part,” Fears said. “Thanks to the Effingham County Recreation and Parks for their support throughout the whole tournament.”
For the Stampede, Landon Shelton went 2-for-3. Dyllan Wiley had a hit and scored the Stampede’s lone run
