SPRINGFIELD -- Richmond Hill's Jackson Finley held Effingham County's bats in check Wednesday, leading the Wildcats to a 3-1 victory that evened their three-game Region 2-AAAAAA series with the Rebels.

The Wildcats fell in Monday's opener on their field 3-2.

The decisive game will be played Thursday at 6 p.m. in Richmond Hill. The contest was originally slated for Friday but was moved up because of the high probability of rain.

Finley, a 6-foot-3 right-hander, allowed only three hits while going the distance. He struck out four and walked two.

The Rebels, down 1-0 at the time, got their lone run in the fourth inning. Ryan Harley scored it on a wild pitch.

Finley's counterpart on the mound, Merritt Evans, allowed nine hits and all three Richmond Hill runs in 4 2/3 innings. He logged six strikeouts and one walk.

Reliever Avery Elenbaas worked the final 2 1/3 innings, surrendering no hits and three walks.

Shortstop Christian Campbell made a couple of spectacular defensive plays early in the game to quell Richmond Hill threats.
