AASU announces student scholars

Communication sciences and disorders major Leslie Childress of Guyton presented “Treatment Options for Individuals with RHD” and cell and molecular biology major Reema Patel of Rincon presented “Amino Acid Role in YDL124wp Stereospecificity” at the university’s 19th annual Student Scholars Symposium.


The Scholars Symposium provides a venue for the campus and the community to come together to celebrate these accomplishments and to recognize the outstanding scholarly achievements made by AASU students.


Armstrong Atlantic State University, part of the University System of Georgia, was founded in 1935. The university offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate academic programs in the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Science and Technology, the College of Education and the College of Health Professions.


Armstrong serves approximately 7,500 students at its main campus in Savannah and a regional center in Hinesville. Its diverse student population comes from nearly all 50 states, the District of Columbia and 69 countries.

Effingham County High School introduced its new mascot, Rowdy the Rebel, this week. Inspired by popular sports mascots, Rowdy will appear at school events, pep rallies, and games, giving students a fresh way to engage and celebrate school spirit.
