The South Effingham High School Drama Club wanted a challenge to start the year off with the selection of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth,” and they lived up to it. More than 400 showed up for the club’s Thursday, Saturday and Sunday performances. The club special ordered costumes, which gave the play an authenticity. Standout performances came from the lead roles of Macbeth, by Colton Williams, and Lady Macbeth, Casey Moran, and Macduff, by Jordon Bala.
Above left and right, Williams (Macbeth) convincingly loses his mind as the apparition of Banquo, played by Dylan Grace, appears, as Lady MacBeth tells the guests from the banquet that her husband is prone to fits.
