The Effingham County School District is embarking upon a new, streamlined process for registering and enrolling new students into the public school system.

A central registration center opened Monday at the Effingham County Board of Education central office facility in Springfield.

Parents of students new to Effingham County and planning to attend the public school system will come to this single location to complete the registration process before going to the schools to enroll their children and obtain a schedule.

Registrations of students transferring between two Effingham County public schools will not need to be processed through central registration unless the students have been off roll for 10 or more consecutive school days.

As reporting requirements have increased in complexity, school systems across Georgia have found that a centralized registration process saves time and aggravation for both parents and school staff. This is particularly true for parents enrolling more than one child in one or more schools.

Many forms will now be family-based, allowing parents to more efficiently communicate student data to the school system.

This “one-stop-shop” approach to registration also allows for more consistent explanation of key district policies and acceptance of required registration items, such as proof of residency.  

Current Effingham County residents and businesses can be of great assistance to the school system by helping inform new residents of this new streamlined process.

Newcomers will find all enrollment requirements and required forms on the district Web site at www.effinghamschools.com. All required registration forms can be completed electronically and may be printed using Adobe Acrobat. Parents are encouraged to complete registration forms before coming to central registration.

Those families without access to the Internet or to a printer may pick up registration packets from central registration or any Effingham County school. Appointments for registration are highly encouraged and can be made by calling 754-2530. Students are not required to be present at the time of registration.
