The Ebenezer Middle School cheerleaders won first place in the Coastal Division of the 12th Annual Sweet Onion Cheer Classic at Vidalia High School on Oct. 23. In addition to the first place win, the team won the grand champion title by scoring higher than any middle school team in the competition.

The team also placed first at West Laurens High, second at a Georgia Southern University meet sponsored by Screven County High School and third in a meet at Richmond Hill High School.

After more than 40 years with Effingham County Schools, CeCe Nixon is retiring, leaving behind a quiet legacy of excellence, compassion and steady leadership. From her beginnings as a kindergarten paraprofessional to her vital role in the district’s testing office, Nixon has impacted generations of students and educators with her work ethic, professionalism and heart.
