FBLA officers, advisors attend SLOTS

Hannah Boyd (treasurer), Vanessa Williams (secretary) and Robbie Moore (vice president), FBLA officers from Effingham County High School, along with advisors Karen Waltz and Sherry Duff attended the 2010 Summer Leadership and Officer Training Summit (SLOTS) at Crisp County High School in Cordele on June 29.    
 
This training camp is meant to prepare local chapter officers and other leaders for upcoming duties and roles. Each officer attended a breakout session relating to their specific office and they were given an officers manual describing their duties for the upcoming year. The advisors met with
Monty Rhodes, state FBLA advisor, for updates and to go over the FBLA calendar for the 2010-11 year. Each chapter was given their chapter planning guides, along with recruitment material. During the course of the day officers and advisors participated in teambuilding activities to help build leadership skills and promote fellowship among the members.
 
FBLA is the Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students enrolled in the Business and Computer Science pathways. The Effingham County High FBLA chapter is now excepting membership applications for the 2010-11 school year. Dues are $15 and are payable to ECHS FBLA.

Parents and other FBLA supporters are encouraged to join the Professional Division of FBLA.  Membership dues are only $23 a year. After more than 40 years with Effingham County Schools, CeCe Nixon is retiring, leaving behind a quiet legacy of excellence, compassion and steady leadership. From her beginnings as a kindergarten paraprofessional to her vital role in the district’s testing office, Nixon has impacted generations of students and educators with her work ethic, professionalism and heart.
