Rep. Gordon to visit Blandfords pre-k

It’s not common for a busy elected official to sit in a pint-sized chair alongside a group of 4-year-olds. Nor does it happen every day that scores of legislators around Georgia are doing the same thing in pre-k classrooms in their districts.

That’s what will happen Oct. 3-7 when the Pre-K program at Blandford Elementary welcomes state Rep. J. Craig Gordon of District 162 to its classrooms. Blandford Elementary and the Effingham County School District  will be actively involved in Georgia Pre-K Week, the first event of its kind hosted by Voices for Georgia’s Children (www.georgiavoices.org) and its partners.  The highlight will be when Rep. Gordon spends the afternoon with Blandford’s pre-k students and learns first-hand what happens in a high-quality early learning classroom.  He will be at Blandford on Oct. 4. at 12:30 p.m.

“We are so honored that Rep. Gordon is taking time away from his demanding schedule to spend some time with us,” said Dr. Norma Wallace, Special Programs and Pre-K Coordinator for Effingham County Schools.  “We can’t wait to show him how revenue from the State’s lottery is being put to such important use in helping 4-year-olds from Effingham County get the skills they need in language, literacy and so many other areas that are critical to helping them succeed in school.”
