The Effingham County school system is participating in a free, eight-week statewide wellness and fitness program, Walk Georgia, which launched March 6 and ends April 30.

BoE employees are encouraged to be active and record all their activities online, where they will tally the number of miles the exercise is equivalent to. This amounts to 30-60 minutes of per day three times a week or 10,000 steps per day, which is approximately five miles.

“You can simply walk, you can ride horseback; you can play Frisbee with the kids in the yard; you can rake leaves. Anything you do counts,” said Marsha Cornell, nurse at Ebenezer Middle School.
