The South Effingham High School recently held a fishing tournament and Redneck Olympics Games. The event was held at the University of Georgia Warnell Forestry Center in Guyton on Aug. 21.

Weigh-in started at 3 p.m. The fishing tournament winners in all the different categories received $25 gift cards to Bass Pro Shops. Dallas Dasher won the biggest catfish category, with his catfish weighing in at a whopping 16 pounds. He also won the biggest pan fish with the weight of 9 ounces. Cyndilee Cone won the biggest bass with 2 pounds.

The chapter then showed off its skinning skills by cleaning and preparing the fish for the fish fry. The FFA members proved that day that they were good fishermen because their catch adequately fed all who were present.

After the fish fry, the chapter officers raffled off “redneck” prizes which included toilet paper and duck tape. For the conclusion of the day, the chapter began the Cash Dive (which is where every member got to play in the mud and “fish out” change for 45 seconds). Mandy Rushing won the Cash Dive and received $20.

The South Effingham High School FFA Chapter extended its gratitude to all those who attended and helped out with the Fishing Tournament/Redneck Olympics.
