The Interact Club of South Effingham High School held its Christmas party at El Real in Rincon on Dec. 6.

Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 14-18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting. Rotary International is the world's first service club organization.

The Interact Club of SEHS is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Effingham County. SEHS students interested in joining the Interact Club should contact either Mr. Kieffer or Ms. Lariscy.

Effingham School Board Approves $203M budget with Potential Property Tax Increase

The Effingham County Board of Education approved a $203 million fiscal year 2026 budget Thursday night, reflecting an 11% increase over last year. The rise is largely due to an $8 million spike in health and retirement benefit costs for employees. To help cover the shortfall, the district may raise the property tax millage rate, potentially increasing homeowners’ taxes by up to 12 percent.
