SEHS Interact Club to hold jeans day fundraiser today

The South Effingham High School Interact Club will have a “jeans day” fundraiser today, April 1, with proceeds going to purchase ShelterBoxes for earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan.

The Interact Club is holding the jeans day fundraiser in honor of Taylor Anderson, an American teacher who was killed in the disaster.

When everyone else went home to take care of their own needs, Anderson stayed behind and took care of her students. She waited with them until a parent arrived to get them. Then she headed home on her bicycle, but she didn’t make it.

When students make a donation, the Interact Club is going to offer them a paper apple on which they may write the name of a teacher who has touched their lives. They can give the apple to the teacher, or we will get it to the teacher for them. If they want to honor an elementary or middle school teacher, they will be encouraged to do so, and the apples will be delivered to the appropriate schools.
