SEHS ROTC takes fifth place at drill meet

The South Effingham High NJROTC cadets finished in the top five at Nease (Fla.) High School. The cadets finished fifth overall out of 16 teams.

The athletic team, led by cadet senior chief James Braswell, placed second overall.

There were cadets who won individual award for pushups. Individual winners were Cadet Ensign Justin Lawson (83), Cadet Lt. Adam Pittman (77) and cadet Petty Officer third class Rebecca Stratton (71).

Individual cadets also placed in curlups — cadet Ensign Lawson (284), Braswell (298) and cadet Master Chief Chris Carson (278).

The academic team also placed third overall and was led by cadet Petty Office first class Zack Bedgood.

The cadets are hopeful that they will place for the Area 12 championship on Feb. 14 at Flemming Island High School.
