Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Springfield is pleased to announce the call of our interim pastor, Dr. James Cavanah.

Cavanah grew up in Garden City, but both his parents, Lawrence and Eunice Hurst Cavanah,  were born in Effingham County. His roots run deep in Effingham soil and go back to the early Salzburgers who settled Ebenezer in 1734.

Cavanah graduated from Armstrong State College with a BA in Political Science.  His theological education includes a Master of Arts in Bible and Biblical Languages and a Master of Divinity Degree from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Miss. He engaged in Doctor of Ministry studies at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis and earned his Doctor of Theology Degree in Church History from Evangel Christian University in Monroe, La.  He has pastored churches in Mississippi and Florida and has served on the faculty of North Florida Community College and lectured at Florida State University.

His wife, Dawn, is also a graduate of Armstrong State College, Troy University and is presently a Ph.D. candidate.  She has taught in the public schools in Chatham and Effingham counties and is currently a teacher at Effingham Christian School.

Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church welcomes Cavanah and his family to its congregation and invites all for Sunday school and worship each Lord’s Day at 9:45 and 11 a.m.
