Participants in this summer’s Ebenezer Vacation Bible School at the New Ebenezer Retreat Center raised money to help three families in Effingham County. Each of the families will receive $650 to help them deal with expenses associated with the care of an Effingham County student facing a medical crisis.
The offering was received at the VBS held in June and sponsored by Bethel Lutheran Church, Bible Lutheran Church, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Laurel Hill Lutheran Church, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Wingard Memorial Lutheran Church, Faith Presbyterian Church, and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. The Effingham County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans supplemented the funds raised at the Bible School.
"This project is just one example of the real difference we’re making in people’s lives," said Marty Hendrix, president of the Effingham County Chapter of Thrivent Financial.
