Energy Oasis is honored to announce their second annual 5K race to be held on April 19 at 9 a.m. The Energy 5K committee has chosen the International Rett Syndrome Foundation to be the beneficiary of the 2008 race with local Richmond Hill resident Amber Gant as their inspiration and representative.

Rett Syndrome is a unique neurodevelopment disorder, which begins to show its affects in infancy. Every five hours a girl is born with Rett Syndrome.

Gant is a beautiful 13-year-old girl that attends Richmond Hill Middle School. Her life is full of many challenges. In 2006 alone, she endured more than five surgeries. Gant will need full time care from her family throughout her life.

The International Rett Syndrome Foundation is a non-for profit agency whose mission is to fund research for Rett Syndrome while enhancing the overall quality of life for those living with Rett Syndrome by providing information, programs and services.
