The Moody Men’s Collegiate Choir, conducted by Dr. H.E. Singley III of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, will be performing March 10 at 7 p.m. at Grace Community Church in Rincon.

Founded in 1957, the Men’s Collegiate Choir is comprised of students from the undergraduate division of the Institute, and it tours in the continental U.S. twice each year ministering in various churches.  Extended summer tours have included England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Scotland and Ireland.

In summer 2003 the choir participated in a joint tour to Atlantic Canada with the Women’s Concert Choir.  During summer 2005, the choir joined the Women’s Concert Choir and Bell Ensemble in a joint tour of New Zealand and Australia.

The men’s repertoire includes classical selections, traditional hymn arrangements, and contemporary gospel music.

Singley, conductor, is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and holds a bachelor’s degree from American Conservatory of Music, an M.M. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Music and the D.M.A. in church music with organ performance concentration from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Singley has served as a missionary to Latin America since 1973 with Impact International, Inc., and also served for a total of 10 years with missionary radio station HCJB in Ecuador. He was an invited musical guest in the associate evangelist ministries of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association from 1972-97 and has served several churches as pastor of worship and music.  Dr. Singley was appointed to the faculty of Moody Bible Institute in 1996 and teaches church music courses and private lessons in addition to his responsibilities with the Moody Men’s Collegiate Choir.  He serves College Church in Wheaton as organist and choir accompanist and is a member of the American Choral Directors’ Association, the Hymn Society of America and the American Guild of Organists.

The Moody Bible Institute, founded in 1886 by evangelist D.L. Moody, is a non-denominational college that educates and trains men and women for Christian service.  It is an accredited member of the Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges (AABC), the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), and North Central Association (NCA). The sacred music department has been an integral part of the Institute’s curriculum since its founding.

In addition to the Men’s Collegiate Choir, Moody has three other touring ensembles: the Chorale, the Women’s Concert Choir and Bell Ensemble, and the Symphonic Band.
