SAVANNAH — On March 26-28 at 7 p.m., the Savannah Arts Academy department of dance, in collaboration with Bloomingdale Elementary School, Gadsden Elementary School and Shuman Middle School, will present a magical production of “Cinderella” at the Savannah Arts Academy Theatre.

With breathtaking costumes designed by SCAD’s fashion merchandising students and an elaborate set and beautiful choreography by artistic director Christina Powell, along with other local and national guest artists, “Cinderella” promises to be a treat for all ages.

Set to the exquisite score by Prokofiev, the ballet brings all of the elements of the beloved fairy tale to life:  Cinderella’s transformation from rags to riches by her Fairy Godmother, the ball where she meets Prince Charming, her dramatic departure at the stroke of midnight and the Prince’s search for the owner of the glass slipper. The hilarious antics of the ugly step-sisters provide delightful doses of humor, and the love story of Cinderella and her Prince fulfills every romantic fantasy.

“This production, the first of its kind for Savannah Arts Academy, has been a dream come true for me. I’ve enjoyed the collaboration between the elementary and middle schools, SCAD’s fashion students, and local and national guest artists. We have used the talents of many student and professional artists to make this night a special one for all,” said Powell.

Performance ticket prices are $10 for general admission and $6 for senior citizens and students. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Savannah Arts Academy.  For more information call (912) 201-5000.
