Savannah Jazz Festival coming

Spyro Gyra will headline the Savannah Jazz Festival.
The 2010 “29th” Savannah Jazz Festival, celebrating jazz as a living art form, built on a constantly evolving tradition will offer all types of jazz, from Dixieland, traditional swing, straight-ahead and bop to melodic standards, and funky down-home “gutbucket” blues. 
 
The festival boasts the best in international, national, regional and local jazz talent.  
 
Sponsored by the City of Savannah, the Festival is free and open to the public. Food and drink venders will be on-site.  
 
The 2010 festival will feature (among others), Spyro Gyra,  Joe Gransden, Marcus Printup, University of North Florida featuring Thomas Marriott, Howard Paul,  Ben Tucker, Teddy Adams, Coastal Jazz Hall of Fame All-Stars, Bob Masteller, Jody Espina (JodyJazz), Georgia Kyle, Joe Louis Walker, Eric Mintel Quartet,  The Eric Culberson Blues Band and Savannah Jazz Orchestra with a Special guest artist.
 
The film “Martino Unstrung,” the exciting documentary about legendary guitarist Pat Martino, will be shown on Sept. 20
